Upper secondary microscope routines, investigative skills, and evaluation prompts for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level Biology Paper 3 practical.
Hands-on Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level Biology practicals, labs, and experiments that blend microscope routines, enzyme and physiology investigations, fieldwork techniques, and PDO/ACE write-ups for Paper 3.
Lab venues
Practical sessions run at our partner lab venues (not at the theory tuition centres).
The Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level Biology syllabus (6093, 2026) is the live guide for candidates sitting the examination in 2026, i.e. the current Sec 3 cohort.
It specifies a 1 h 50 min Paper 3 practical worth 40 marks (20 % of the examination) with timed Section A and Section B investigations.
Candidates must plan, execute, and document their work within the script—no lab notebooks are permitted.
Paper 3 assesses the following:
Paper 3 covers microscope work, food and enzyme tests, physiological investigations, field observations, and quantitative measurements using standard laboratory apparatus.
Each session tracks Paper 3—planning hypotheses and controls, microscope calibration and drawing, enzyme and field experiments, and ACE/PDO commentary—so your O-Level Biology practicals, labs, and experiments map cleanly to the live syllabus.
| Paper | Duration | Marks / weighting | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper 3 Practical | 1 h 50 min | 40 marks (20% of O-Level grade) | Section A and B investigations testing Planning, MMO, PDO, ACE across microscope, enzyme, and field tasks. |
Our walkthroughs convert those expectations into pre-lab routines, observation tables, and evaluation prompts so you can rehearse Paper 3 techniques, practise clean biological drawings, and flag issues for tutors early.

Paper 3 lasts 1 h 50 min, carries 40 marks, and contributes 20% of the Biology grade. Two timed sections test Planning, MMO, PDO, and ACE skill strands.
Yes. Expect MMO checkpoints on focusing, magnification, and annotated biological drawings that follow exam rules on proportions and labels.
Planning contributes about 15% of the Paper 3 marks. You will frame hypotheses, controls, and data treatment before running the investigation.
Use our observation templates, virtual microscope assets, and past-data exercises to rehearse PDO and ACE responses between school lab sessions.
We run Paper 3-style practicals—planning and risk notes, microscope calibration, enzyme and field investigations, and PDO/ACE write-ups—so O-Level Biology practicals, labs, and experiments stay aligned with exam timing and marking.
