What IMDO is
The International Medicine and Disease Olympiad is an international competition focused on knowledge and problem solving related to medicine and disease. The organiser says its content is set around what a student might know after the first year of a US medical school, with a minority of questions potentially going beyond that level.
This is not a general secondary-school science quiz. The stated knowledge level is substantially beyond a normal school syllabus, and the eligibility rule is based on age and college enrolment rather than the label "secondary student".
IMDO 2026 date and format
The official rules currently state:

Eligibility
The current organiser rules require a competitor to:
- be selected to represent a country;
- be 20 or younger when IMDO is held, subject to the organiser's stated possible one-month exception requested by the partner organisation;
- be a citizen, permanent resident, or equivalent of the represented country; and
- not already be enrolled in college by the competition date.
Countries with populations above 250 million may have eight individual representatives. Countries with populations of 250 million or fewer may have four.
