Q: Can a Singapore applicant use the 2026 GKS Korea-Japan degree call?
A: Not on the published nationality boundary. NIIED says this call invites Japanese students to pursue associate, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees in Korea. Its Japan submission deadline was 24 October 2025, so the 2026 intake call is closed.
Last reviewed: 19 July 2026 against the NIIED-run Study in Korea notice and current GKS programme hub.

What this notice covered

The 15 September 2025 notice described a 2026 Korea-Japan Undergraduate/Graduate Degree Programme under the Embassy Track. It published a total quota of 30:

  • 15 associate or bachelor's degree scholars; and
  • 15 master's or doctoral degree scholars.

The notice states that the programme aims to invite Japanese students. This is not the general GKS call for applicants of every participating nationality.

Status and deadline

The notice gave the Japan submission destination as the Korean Education Foundation scholarship office in Tokyo and set a document deadline of 24 October 2025. That application window has passed.

Do not use this archived intake page to predict a future Korea-Japan deadline or quota. Search the live Study in Korea scholarship notices for a later call.

Why this page is excluded from Eclat's matcher

The previous frontmatter made this Japanese-only call look suitable for Singapore JC, polytechnic, undergraduate, and postgraduate applicants across many fields. It also classified commitment and overseas exposure without preserving the nationality gate.

This profile is now excluded from the Scholarship Matcher. A Singapore-based reader who does not hold the required Japanese nationality should use the general GKS notices or a country-specific route that explicitly accepts the applicant's nationality.

Documents the 2026 notice supplied

The official notice listed:

  • Japanese and Korean application guidelines;
  • undergraduate and graduate university-information archives; and
  • a corrected GKS undergraduate/graduate application form.

Applicants were instructed to use the attachments and ask the first-round organisation about the deadline, extra documents, and interview process. This page does not reproduce the attachment requirements because they belong to that closed intake and may change in a later notice.

What not to infer

  • A 2026 degree quota does not establish the quota for a later intake.
  • The broader Korea-Japan scholarship hub also describes one-year and short-term exchange programmes. Those are distinct from this degree notice.
