How to calculate L1R5 quickly
Use English or Higher Mother Tongue Language as L1. Then add one Humanities subject as R1, one Mathematics or Science subject as R2, one Humanities, Mathematics or Science subject as R3, and your two best remaining eligible subjects as R4 and R5. The calculator finds the lowest valid total from the grades entered.
Use this L1R5 calculator only through the 2027 JAE
MOE will replace L1R5 with L1R4 for JC admission in the new 2028 PSE. The JC gross-score threshold will change from 20 to 16, and the ordinary bonus-point cap will change from 4 to 3. MI already uses L1R4, so this calculator is not an MI calculator.

Pick your O-Level grades and we will compute your lowest possible L1R5 gross score under MOE’s subject category rules (R1/R2/R3), then subtract the bonus total you enter. This tool applies to JC admission through the 2027 JAE only. Your MOE Form A remains the official computation.
Counts as L1 if used (MOE: L1 is English or Higher Mother Tongue).
Example: Higher Chinese / Higher Malay / Higher Tamil.
Example: Chinese / Malay / Tamil. If this is a different language from your HMTL, enter it as an extra Other subject.
Example: Combined Humanities (SS + elective).
Example: Geography / History / Literature.
Use this for POA / D&T / another Humanities/Math/Science subject.

Considering retaking O-Levels?
Eligible JAE applicants can request a computation using results from no more than two O-Level sittings. If the same subject was taken in both selected years, MOE uses the better grade. A retake does not by itself guarantee that you remain eligible for JAE, so check your applicant profile before registering.
