Q: Which Bedok and Tampines study options have useful owner evidence? A: NLB lists Bedok Public Library and Tampines Regional Library. PA's current community-study page still links a detailed directory dated 5 September 2025 for Heartbeat@Bedok, Our Tampines Hub, and several CC spaces. Dutch Colony currently lists an Our Tampines Hub outlet. Check each owner again because the PA room records are dated and commercial hours do not establish study permission.
TL;DR Start with NLB for current library information. Use PA's room list only as a dated contact guide. Heartbeat@Bedok and Our Tampines Hub have the clearest public-area records, but call or email before relying on them. Dutch Colony is a commercial fallback only after staff confirm laptop or study use.
Last reviewed: 19 July 2026. Opening hours, room access, events, seating, and outlet policies can change without notice.
NLB's fact sheet, updated in January 2024, records Tampines Regional Library at Our Tampines Hub with:
about 10,900 square metres of floor area;
about 350,000 collection items as of 2024;
a Study Lounge and Co-Working Lounge;
MakeIT at Tampines on Level 4;
library spaces across five levels.
These are branch features, not a promise of an available desk. The old guide's claims about crowding after school, reservable seats, quiet zones, and better seat odds were not established by the reviewed NLB sources.
Use the NLB libraries directory for current branch information. MakeIT has its own access, membership, age, booking, and opening arrangements, so do not treat it as ordinary drop-in study seating.
Bedok Public Library
NLB's Bedok fact sheet records that the library moved to Heartbeat@Bedok and reopened there in October 2017. PA's current Heartbeat@Bedok page also identifies Bedok Public Library as one of the services in the hub.
The reviewed owner sources did not support the former guide's claims that Bedok is quieter than Tampines, that its senior-friendly design produces a calmer atmosphere, or that particular tables have limited power. Those subjective comparisons are removed.

2 Hub seating: dated PA records
PA's Community Study Areas page says its network covers more than 270 CC and RC locations. The detailed CC and integrated-hub list it links is explicitly marked information accurate as at 5 September 2025. PA tells users to call or email the location to check availability before heading down.

Call before travelling. The dated list does not establish a universal free-entry rule, current registration requirements, capacity, power sockets, Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, or room availability.
Two older entries need special caution:
Tampines North CC: the directory describes a pilot that ran only from September to November 2025. It is not a current 2026 recommendation.
Tampines West CC: the directory says the Glass Studio Study Area opens in September and October every year. Confirm whether it will operate in 2026 before planning around it.
Those facts confirm the outlet and its published schedule. They do not establish permission to study, laptop use, power sockets, Wi-Fi, quietness, minimum purchase, or how long a customer may occupy a table.
Call or ask staff before setting up. Buy something, keep the table footprint small, and leave if the outlet becomes busy. For other commercial options, use the separately reviewed study-friendly cafes guide and verify the selected outlet.
5 Corrections to the older guide
The earlier page overstated several facts. This review removes or corrects:
the incorrect description of Bedok MRT as an East West Line and Downtown Line interchange;
claims that Bedok Library is quieter than Tampines Regional Library;
forum-derived crowd, noise, socket, seat, and best-time advice;
a claim that NLB seat booking is available at either named branch without checking the current branch tools;
a universal free-entry claim for all PA and CC spaces;
present-tense treatment of the completed Tampines North 2025 pilot;
exact late-train departures without a route-specific LTA check;
the assumption that a cafe listing makes an outlet laptop-friendly.
For current rail information, use LTA's rail network page and the relevant operator's journey planner. Bedok station is on the East West Line; Tampines station connects the East West and Downtown lines.
6 A practical decision order
If you want a library
Check NLB for Bedok Public Library and Tampines Regional Library on the day. Choose based on your route and current branch information, not an unsupported quieter-versus-larger ranking.
If you want open hub seating
Contact Heartbeat@Bedok or Our Tampines Hub and ask whether the listed public levels are available during your planned session. Carry a backup because events can affect open areas.
If you want an enclosed or named CC space
Call the specific CC. Ask about today's room, hours, entry or registration, capacity, and any programme booking.
If you want a cafe
Dutch Colony's published outlet hours are current on the owner page, but study permission is not. Ask staff before using a laptop or materials.
If you need late-night access
Use the separately audited 24-hour study spots guide and recheck the chosen owner. None of the reviewed sources turns the immediate Bedok and Tampines options above into a 24-hour study venue.
