TL;DR
For free seating, start with Woodlands Regional Library (one of NLB's largest at 11,100 sq m) or Yishun Public Library at Northpoint City (with interactive learning pods). Back up with one of 5 CC study rooms across the North corridor, and keep Staytion at Marsiling MRT as a paid alternative. Always re-check hours on official pages before heading down.

1 Why the Woodlands–Yishun corridor matters
This is the North's main student belt:
- Republic Polytechnic is at 9 Woodlands Avenue 9 - close to Woodlands MRT (NSL) and Woodlands North MRT (TEL).
- Yishun Innova JC (YIJC) is in the Yishun estate. The merged campus is at the current Yishun site until a new campus opens in January 2028.
- ITE College Central is at 2 Ang Mo Kio Drive - serves North-region students.
- Woodlands MRT is now an NSL–TEL interchange, making it far more accessible than before - students on the Thomson–East Coast Line can reach it without the cross-island NSL trek.
Both Woodlands Regional Library and Yishun Public Library sit inside or adjacent to malls with food courts and sheltered MRT links, making evening sessions after CCA practical for families.
2 Libraries
Woodlands Regional Library
- Location: Woodlands Civic Centre, near Woodlands MRT. One of NLB's largest branches at approximately 11,100 sq m across 4 storeys plus basement.
- Collection: Around 540,000 items - regional branches carry significantly more than neighbourhood ones.
- Quiet Reading Room (Level 3): A dedicated silent study room - not just a quiet zone with signage, but a separate enclosed room. One of the quietest spaces in the NLB network, described by forum users as ideal for timed papers.
- Autism-friendly space (Level 4): A quieter, lower-sensory area that doubles as an excellent focused-study zone.
