1 Why the Bishan–Serangoon corridor matters
This is one of Singapore's densest IP/JC catchments:
- Raffles Institution and Raffles Girls' School are in the Bishan area. Most RI/RGS students study locally after CCA rather than heading to town.
- Catholic High School is on Bishan Street 22.
- Eunoia JC is at Sin Ming Place, near Bright Hill MRT (TEL) - within the Bishan orbit.
- CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' School is at 501 Ang Mo Kio Street 13 - accessible from Bishan via one NSL stop.
Three MRT lines converge here: NSL (Bishan), CCL (Bishan, Serangoon), and NEL (Serangoon). This makes the corridor accessible without long cross-island commutes - students from Novena, Buona Vista, or Hougang can all reach Bishan or Serangoon within minutes.
2 Libraries
Bishan Public Library
- Location: 5 Bishan Place, near Bishan MRT (NSL/CCL). Walk through Junction 8 area to reach it.
- Collection: Approximately 250,000 titles.
- Distinctive feature: Award-winning "tree house" design with reading pods built into the architecture - arguably the most photogenic study environment in the NLB network. The pods offer a semi-private, cosy feel that is particularly good for focused solo revision.
