IP schools teach topics in different orders. We start with the student's school materials and recent scripts, then fix the older algebra, geometry, or graphing gaps slowing down current work.

Marcus Pang graduated from River Valley High School (RVHS IP) and has a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from the National University of Singapore, as well as a master of education in curriculum and teaching by the national institute of teaching (NIE). Teaching since 2014, and with experience in MOE schools teaching IP students, he serves as the current principal tutor in Eclat Institute. He is also an adjunct lecturer, and teacher trainer for PEIs on O-Level, A-Level, IGCSE, and CIE theory classes as well as lab work. Connect on

For Sec 1 students to students preparing for JC, tuition is most useful when it solves a specific problem and fits the student's week. Check these points before comparing centres or booking another class.
Name the problem first
Check whether the issue is foundation, exam technique, motivation, workload, or the current class before adding more lessons.
Start with the smallest useful step
If the student already knows the problem, a school consultation, corrected script, or self-study plan may be enough for now.

Ask who teaches, how large the class is, what happens after a missed lesson, what the fees include, and how parents receive updates.

IP schools often move through foundational topics quickly and introduce proofs, functions, and statistics earlier. We follow the student's school sequence and introduce A-Level techniques such as binomial proof and parametric equations gradually from Year 3.
Many students start in Sec 3 when algebra, functions, and calculus become harder, or before a major weighted assessment when marks are unstable. A student who starts later should first revisit weak foundations and practise timed papers.

Protect time and energy
Tuition should reduce confusion, not add unnecessary work. Check the student's CCA load, travel time, school homework, and willingness to attend.

Look for sample materials, marked work, clear class details, and a make-up policy. Avoid grade promises.

Does IP school order matter?
Yes. We first check what the school is teaching now, then separates urgent exam topics from background gaps.
Is one-to-one better?
Eclat's weekly programme is small-group tuition. If the student has one specific gap that needs individual attention, a one-to-one provider may be worth comparing before committing.
What if my child is too weak?
Start with the topic costing the most marks instead of adding more worksheets across every topic.
How is progress checked?
Progress is checked through worked corrections, and school-exam preparation before each assessment window.

We cap each group at 8 students so the tutor can check each student's working, correct misunderstandings early, and give useful comments during class.
In-person theory lessons run at Jurong East Centre (Vision Exchange) (2 Venture Dr, #16-07 Vision Exchange). Our one-north office is for talks and presentations only, not regular lessons. See the Centre section above for the full address and map link.
Fees are charged monthly for each subject. The Early Intake from October to February is SGD 360 per month. The Regular Intake from March to June is SGD 380 per month. The Catch-up Intake from July to September is SGD 400 per month. Students who continue into the next year return to the Early Intake rate of SGD 360 per month. Yes. IP Mathematics includes much of what the O-Level syllabus calls Additional Mathematics. Differentiation and integration commonly appear by Year 3.
We begin with a short assessment and a conversation about the student's recent work. This shows which concepts and methods need attention first. Lessons then focus on those gaps so the student can see steady progress.
Students explain why they chose a method, not only how they carried it out. We also ask them to review mistakes and describe what they would do differently next time.
Yes. After each term, we may recommend a faster or steadier class. All classes cover the same core ideas, so moving between them is manageable.
Yes. Students practise the TI-84 or Casio fx-CG50 functions needed for their school work and exams.
Year 4 students can preview three-dimensional vectors, Maclaurin series, and introductory proofs so the start of JC1 feels less abrupt.
Across 2020 - 2025, 9 in 10 students scored As and Bs in Maths. 6 in 10 students scored A1 or A2 in Maths. Those starting at a failing grade averaged a 2-band climb within one semester.
